The cover of this month's Sports Illustrated almost makes me not hate Derek Jeter.

Don't! They totally shot it with a blue screen! Derek Jeter was kicking puppies while Johnny Damon was healing the sick. It's like that Frank Sinatra album.

I don't have the inside scoop like Lauren, but I'm likewise puzzled. He looks just as unsufferably smug and revolting (thanks Chrissy!) as usual. Is it only because Rodriguez is even more smug and revolting and purple lips are grosser than yellow eyes and the awfulness of Jeter has been ineffably diminished by the contrast?

Sorry, sorry. I just thought that the picture made him look like he might actually have a sense of humor about himself. But you're right. He probably was kicking puppies. Or worse. Sorry for the brief moment of insanity.
