From ALA.org:
"This effort to limit access violates ALA's long-held principles of intellectual freedom and parental involvement by denying every parent the ability to choose what materials are appropriate for their children according to their own family's values. Instead, it empowers a small review board to decide for all families in a community what materials will be available."
No wonder people that love banning books hate the ALA. Ha ha. Take that, Rep. Jones.

"Jones, a Catholic, anticipates a "time of purification" in Washington. He hopes it comes soon."

I'll second that, along with some barfing sound effects.

Please don't use the r-word that way. It is INCREDIBLY OFFENSIVE to those of us who have children with disabilities. I would have hoped that someone like a librarian would have known that.

I assume that somewhere in your library you have a book called the American Heritage Dictionary. Try looking up that word. You will see that it is labeled as "offensive slang". Do you use the n-word in your general conversations? Do you like it when people refer to women by the c-word?

By the way, if you are wondering why I am commenting on such an old blog entry, it is because you did something that caused all your 2005 entries to show up in your RSS feed. You can escape your blogging past if you are willing to edit it. Otherwise you don't know when what you said will come back to haunt you.
