From the Petoskey News-Review:
In the past two weeks, employees found that seven book and magazine covers showing former President Bill Clinton and U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., had been damaged at the library by cutting or scratching. On Thursday, a patron found a copy of “Citizen Moore,” Roger Rappaport's biography of liberal filmmaker Michael Moore, discarded in a men's restroom urinal at the library.
“The patron who brought it to my attention was rightfully upset,” library assistant Donna Smith said. “It's a total lack of common courtesy. If it doesn't belong to you, you shouldn't mess with it.
Click the link and look at the picture -- cutting someone's mouth out, silencing them like that (regardless of political party, blah diddity blah) -- is especially ugly. And you know for sure that whoever did it thinks of himself* as a Red-Blooded American.
If I caught someone doing something like that, I know I'd never look at them the same way again.
Then again, maybe I'm just overly sensitive to library vandalism. I'm still dying to catch the asshat who ripped the pie section out of November's Bon Appetit.
*Yes, yes, it could be a woman. But I'm going to go out on a limb here and look at the placement of the Michael Moore biography as a Clue.

I'm going to go with: 'male teen who just read a Sean Hannity book'.
Survey says! Nope, sorry, it was a '27-year-old virgin who watches Faux News'.

Thanks for linking to the PNR! I lived in northern Michigan until I was 16, and it's refreshing to see anyone else in the world mention Petoskey (even if they were Charlevoix's arch nemesis!) :)
