But...but it's got Cedric Diggory. And his eyebrows. I haven't read a single Stephanie Meyer book but I'll be there just for the eyebrows.

Is, um, Christmas time a little weird for this particular movie?

chrissy

A movie based on a book that doesn't look very good?! Say it isn't so!

Yep, I did need to be that snarky.

Leila

Hee hee. How do you feel about Peter Gallagher's eyebrows?

I don't think Christmas is a weird time -- there's always a few blockbusters. I think they probably want to take advantage of school vacations and whatnot.

Leila

Chrissy, I can't believe that you, the queen of fantasy/horror romance novels, still haven't read Twilight. C'mon! Sparkly vampires! What more could you want?

Dana

Boo! It doesn't look good. I was so sad when I saw the cast... not how I pictured them. (It too will be there just for Cedric and his eyebrows though ;) )I don't know why I even thought I would be able to stand the movie. The books were too good. I couldn't even go see Eragon because they made him blond. Maybe I'll just sadly bide my time until Breaking Dawn comes out, dreaming of Edward...and Cedric.

chrissy

I have read Twilight, last year. I just haven't read the rest of the series. And while I liked Twilight, I'm still not sure why it has the following it does. It's rabid. And I never get excited anymore about books, especially juvenile/YA books that I am particularly fond of, getting made into movies. The movies are always a let down.

Brooke

Whoa. They, like, totally killed off Bambi in the first 5 seconds of that trailer. Killing off Bambi is never a good sign.

It looks like the film's going to be pretty faithful to the book, but you know what? The scenes that seemed kinda cool in my imagination look incredibly lame on film. (Oh, look! He . . . punched . . . a van! Take that, van!)

Laurie

As a Buffy fan, I enjoyed the trailer.
"They can fly?!?"
"They can drive."

TadMack

I'm with Chrissy and the snark, guys. I'm, like a hair from saying "I told you so," but that's not how I roll, so I'll just sit quietly and roll my eyes and snort. You know, like, quietly.

Leila

Oh yes, we're, like, very impressed with how quiet your snarking is, TadMack. (Har har.)

I thought you had read it, Chrissy. As far as I'm concerned, Twilight was, by far, the most enjoyable of the three. (I'd probably have plenty of young readers at the library yell at me for that opinion -- and if I dared suggest that while I think the books are totally un-put-down-able despite the not super-fantastic prose, well, you'd probably have to drive up here and scrape me off the walls. Walls, plural, because it would be a bloodbath.)

Brooke, if I'd been drinking something while reading your comment, I would have had to clean my computer. So I'm glad that I wasn't. You funny.

I had no idea that Cedric's eyebrows had such a following.

Brian F.

Peter Gallagher's eyebrows are OK but you gotta have the eyes to go with the thick, lush eyebrows. Cedric's got the eyes (although his pouty lips sometimes give me pause).

Whitney

I was soooo confused. I had the Green Porno open in another window while I watched the trailer for this, and I couldn't figure out why they had someone yelling out A FEMALE READY TO MATE! SEX! IT'S THE SEASON! and making slurping noises all during the trailer. Oddly enough, it almost fit... :)

Leila

Oh, wow. That made me howl, Whitney.

Gail Gauthier

"I'll just sit quietly and roll my eyes and snort"

Doesn't Bella spend most of books 2 and 3 rolling her eyes? I can't remember if she snorts.

In all fairness, I find that people in vampire books often roll their eyes.

kimberly

I just watched the trailer without sound because the computer I'm at has no sound. Sadly, I doubt I'll be able to watch the entire movie that way.

Cedric does not fit my mental picture of Edward (which has drastically changed since struggling through the first 250 pages of Eclipse. Good golly, could there possibly be more melodrama?).

And you know what? Just two days ago I waited in line at 6am for THREE HOURS to get tickets to S. Meyer's book signing. The things I do for my job. Sigh...

Gwen

Cedric is kind of too hip and attractive to be Edward. I always pictured Edward as much more prissy and formal and weird.

Kristi

Whitney's comment just made me completely lose it here at work. Now all the teens are giving me funny looks.

Sylvia

Hmm. I'm preparing to be killed for saying this but I really disliked the books. They were like Meg Cabot meets Anne Rice. I destest both of those authors, so...oh well.
So I didn't expect the film to look good.
