I stupidly waited until the last minute to RSVP for the John Green event in Cambridge, and so of course it's totally full with a long waiting list. I don't know WHAT I was thinking. As I'd be driving down from Maine, it doesn't really make sense for me to chance it, you know?
I think I'll drown my sorrows by watching Twin Peaks (yes, AGAIN) and re-starting my t-shirt sweatshop. I'm about to make my first 'Real vampires don't sparkle.' shirt. YES. And at least I took today and tomorrow off. YES.
I guess I'll survive.
Oh, I should probably write about Paper Towns sometime this weekend! And pick up Mansfield Park again! And finish the other three books I'm in the middle of! And do some Cybils reading! So I'm not going to wallow in the fact that I'M AN IDIOT or anything.

Hey, I feel your pain. The exact same thing happened to me, since I didn't find out until yesterday that RSVPs were involved at all. It's a good thing I decided to go to the library yesterday, or I would have found out today at 6:30 when the event started.

Yeah, I wish I'd realized that there was going to be limited attendance -- I mean, it's totally my own fault and if I'd stopped to think about for three seconds, I would have, but ARG!

Green will be in the Twin Cities in November and I will be there.
How's Annie?
How's Annie?
HOW'S ANNIE?!

Annie hasn't showed up yet, Bob. Doc Jacoby just had his heart attack and Audrey is at One Eyed Jacks. And now Pete and Catherine Martel are having their Big Moment before the mill burns where she asks for his help and he hugs her and she does that hilarious eyerollbackpat thing.
I, meanwhile, am digging through all of our boxes, looking for some of my sewing stuff.

Whoa. . . Does this mean my chances of getting a damalur-sol tshirt have increased????? I would spend a LOT for one of those made by my fave blogress.

I did the same thing, not realizing I had to call and RSVP as well as reply on Facebook. So I called the library and they put me around #75 on the waiting list. But only living a bus ride away I decided to chance it.
I realize making the sojourn from Maine would have been much for a risky proposition, bu you should have chanced it as well. Turns out a bunch of people on the main list didn;t show and half the people on the wait list also didn't show for one reason or another and I slipped in quite easily. John felt bad that so many people couldn't get in so after he read a bit from Paper Towns he went outside and read to those who couldn't get in while Hank sang songs. Then he sent Hank out to entertain. And everyone eventually was let in when it came time for signings.

Dammit! Oh, well.
Well, sad for me, but fantastic for everyone who chanced it -- I should have had more trust in the Brothers Green and the powers of awesome. Lesson learned!
