Val McDermid to write children's book.

I'm giving her a pass* because of this quote:

"Amanda Ridout [HCUK MD] kept asking me to write a children's book and I didn't want to, largely because I have the utmost respect for children's writers and I know it's not easy. In the end, I said I had a few verses of a poem I'd written for my son, so I sent it to her really hoping she'd leave me alone," McDermid told BookBrunch.
