I loved the original BBC adaptation. I think this could be superb on the big screen with the right creative team. Sadly, I don't know enough about Jordan's work to know how I feel about him at the helm of the writing and directing.

The old TV adaptation is one of my favorite things from my childhood. I remember reenacting parts of the books/show with my little brothers and my cousins.

NOOOOOOOO!
Ugh.
Horrible news.
I still haven't recovered yet from how Miramax ruined the Lord of the Rings, and now this.
Nothing is sacred, really.

That's a surprise considering the books are *very* science fiction--spaceships, homing implants, the whole bit. But I guess there's a lot of room for action sequences.
I love this series, by the way. I hope the movie gives "kid" science fiction a boost.
