The formatting at the website is annoying, but the article (or opinion piece?) is worth reading, if only for quotes like:
"He showed me some of the things that were in it and it was just disgusting," she said. "You know, perversion.
...which I keep hearing in Tim Robbins' "You know, for kids!" voice.
And I love the fact that the Superintendent's proposed Required Procedures for Selecting and Distributing Reading Material procedure includes this line:
Employee will confirm reading material is free of vulgar language, sexual content, racial insults or demeaning religious connotations.
Which is hilarious, because if passed as is, they'd be stuck teaching... what? Where's Spot?
Certainly not Huckleberry Finn.
