I don't know whether to be overjoyed or dismayed. The Book Thief is undoubtedly one of the most brilliant literary treasures of modern times, but I'm just not sure it lends itself to a movie. Part of the brilliance is in the narrative, and the whole point of the book is the joy we get from reading. I've never been more emotional when reading a book, and I question whether that same magic and brilliance will translate to the big screen.

Love, love LOVE The Book Thief. That bell is still ringing in my head. But as a movie? I'm conflicted.

Yeah, the voice is such an integral part of the book that I'm curious to see how they decide to go about adapting it...
