From the NYT:
Whenever people have asked you what’s the worst book you’ve read, you’ve consistently said “The Notebook,” by Nicholas Sparks. Aren’t you afraid you’re going to bump into him?
One of the reasons that I say what I say about Nicholas Sparks is because I have bumped into him.
ZING!
(Not that I agree with everything she says. Like: "I’ve heard the word “formulaic” come up when people criticize my books. Why? Because I have a trial in many of my books. I don’t know that John Grisham is called formulaic very often, so it is kind of interesting." Ummmmm... yeah, no. Just Google John Grisham for a plethora of examples of people calling him formulaic. But, WOW. That Nicolas Sparks bit made me howl.)

That comment cracked me up, too. Overall, I thought it was a really neat interview. Speaks her mind, doesn't she?

Agreed: while I certainly didn't agree with everything she had to say, it's nice to see an author let loose like that! :D
