From the First Amendment Center:
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Rejecting an appeal by video-game makers and sellers, the Alabama Supreme Court has kept alive a $600 million lawsuit blaming "Grand Theft Auto" for the murders of the three-person night shift at a rural police department.
I'm sorry, but don't they see what sort of precedent this would set? Not to mention totally destroying any sort of notion of personal responsibility. Then again, maybe if the suit succeeds, someone'll sue one of the way-too-many CSI shows and we'll regain some diversity in television programming.
Leila, don't you understand that people do everything they see on tv or in video games? That's why all those anti-drug commercials led to the sharp decline of drug use; that's why bullying is a thing of the past now that kids are read books about how sad it makes people when they are bullied; and that's why we could eliminate crime completely if the networks would just greenlight more programs that showed the public how not to kill people.

Ha. Right?
It's so weird, because I really do (partially, at least) blame the media for eating disorders and the like, but suing them just seems so... dumb. It's like suing McDonald's for being fat.
