Umm... Would it be unpopular for me to voice that, while I very much enjoyed TGC, I liked the subsequent novels less with each installment? I'm not sure how I feel about movie versions bc of this. I think I'm going to go with the attitude that I'm happy they continue to acknowledge kid's lit. There. I'll stick to that. ;)

I don't think you're necessarily in the minority on that one -- I loved the first two, but then TAS less so. My husband is more on your team: he loved TGC, thought TSK was okay and HATED TAS.
