Nothing makes a book more unattractive than the phrase "Ripped from the headlines".

Whenever I see "ripped from the headlines" I immediately think, "No doubt kicking and screaming...."

It just strikes me as so TACKY and National Enquirer-ish. Even if the book clearly isn't.
