So, it's probably obvious that I'm intrigued by this NaNoReMo thing over at defective yeti.
While I'm still planning on participating (I think), it occurred to me that it might be a whole lot of fun to do something similar, but with the YA (or the children's... or the books I've been meaning to read for ages, like A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and Rebecca. No, I haven't read either. Shocking!). I'd like to read and blog about a book (or a series) over an extended period of time, rather than the usual go-for-broke-read-book-in-one-sitting-and-then-begin-typing-frenzy. And it would be even better if other people wanted to jump in on the action.
My, that pink is... something, isn't it?
Anyway, let me know what you think. I'll post a list of book possibilities tomorrow*. (And feel free to suggest some in the comments. My list is long, but the more choice, the better.)
*Obviously, this'll be starting later than NaNoReMo.
Aw, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is so great! It would be hard to stretch it to a while month.

Yeah, the length of the project will depend on the book I decide to go with. That one's definitely high up on the list, but I'm also thinking about re-reading the frist three books in Aiken's Wolves series. Or Shirley Jackson's The Lottery and other stories, which I haven't picked up in a bazillion years.

Does Rebecca actually count as YA?!
Well, I might be up for this - it's not like I'm doing Cybils or anything...!?

No, it's just one of the many (many many many) books that I've been meaning to get around to for ages.

You haven't read REBECCA?!? How about Jamaica Inn (I like that one better)?

My grandmother, who grew up in the Bronx, gave me A Tree Grows in Brooklyn to read when I was fairly young. The father in the story is sadly, and tragically, just like hers was. She was still missing him forty + years after his death.
To say I love that book would be a huge understatement!
