• A Judy Blume tribute at a blog called (ahem...) The Poop:
While Blume is a genius, in my opinion everything went downhill with "Superfudge," which was Blume's version of the Ewok forest in "Return of the Jedi." The Fudge character wasn't annoying enough to ruin "Tales of the Fourth Grade Nothing," but he became the literary version of "Caillou" in all the spin-offs -- promoting the idea that bratty whining kids should be indulged. Stupid Fudge.
Dude, am I the only person out there who doesn't hate the Ewoks? I know I'm supposed to, but I just can't. First off, I was the exact right age when they appeared. And secondly, c'mon! The sounds they make? Awesome. Yub yub. Oh, right. Yes, Judy Blume is cool.
• Reviews, spoilers and ARCs. I had no idea that Stephenie Meyer freaked out about New Moon spoilers. Huh.
• The One-Star Challenge. Also at John Scalzi's site, this post about his shareware story is extremely interesting. And cool! (second link via Urban Fantasy Land)
• I'd better talk to Josh about the layout of our new house. (via ABA)
• I've been thinking about getting into this book challenge thing. Specifically this one, because I've had my eye on this book for quite a while now.
Just thought you should know you're not alone--I love the Ewoks. Not enough to watch the actual Ewok movie, I'm afraid, but they were cute in Star Wars. And very resourceful!

I like the Ewoks too. Although I always thought they were saying "jub jub." Maybe they have different dialects.

I liked "Superfudge" AND the Ewoks!

I LOVE Ewoks, but apparently only in their own movies since I haven't watched Star Wars closely enough to see them there. I own both the movies, even though they are of questionable quality. I totally had a crush on Wicket as a kid. >.>

I like the Ewoks (though I loathe Jar Jar Binks). And Superfudge and the sequels are excellent reading for kids younger than the "issue" Judy Blume books like Are You There God, It's Me, Margaret. My second-grader is currently racing through all the Peter Hatcher, Fudge and Sheila books and will be sad when he's through with them. Though I do think Fudge's parents indulge him too much and should discipline him more as they did in Fourth Grade Nothing ("Eat it or wear it!").

I love the Ewoks! They kind of remind me of hobbits, only furry all over and speaking a different language.

I like the Ewoks, too, but I never really liked Superfudge. That bratty little kid got away with everything! Just a thought- wouldn't a book featuring Fudge as an adult be awesome? He'd be an employer's nightmare.

Ok, so I like the Ewoks, and my name gives it away that yeah...I love Star Wars...and quite possibly would have been Princess Leia EVERY year, if my parents hadn't put their foot down. But I will say I DO HATE CAILLOU...with a passion...and I may get slammed here, I love Judy Blume...but I kinda quit after superfudge..the sequels didn't do a whole lot for me, and he is a brat.

All the Fudge hate is new to me -- I posted the bit from that essay because I thought the comparison was so funny! I really had no idea that so many people felt so strongly about poor old Farley Drexel. Being an older sib, I always identified with Peter anyway.
Noanon, I think they must have different dialects. The Ewoks up here in Maine always say "yub yub".
Renay, you'll see loads and loads of Ewoks if you watch Return of the Jedi.
Mairi, that's an excellent idea! I love it.

Love love love the Ewoks. I even own one of the movies on DVD. Gotta love that Warwick Davis got his start on Star Wars.

There was an Ewok movie? Hmmm...
Well, I liked the Ewoks in Return of the Jedi -- and I'm old enough to have seen it when it was released the first time (I was 17, and my friend camped in line for 3 days to see the opening show).
I liked 4th Grade Nothing as a kid, but I don't think I read the sequels.
