...Graceling is very extremely awesome.
I cried when it was over. Not because the story made me sad, but because it was OVER.
It made me think of Tamora Pierce, Shannon Hale and Robin McKinley. And the male romantic lead? WAY more attractive than Edward Cullen. (Part of the attraction for me, of course, lies in the fact that he is aware of and comfortable with the fact that Katsa, the heroine, is perfectly capable of taking care of herself and making her own decisions.)
I am DYING for the book to actually come out so that everyone, everyone, everyone can read it, read it, read it!
An ovarian cyst would be a more attractive romantic partner than Edward Cullen.

My computer screen is very lucky that I'd finished drinking my tea when I read that.

I have pictures of my cysts from when I had surgery (yes, gross, shush) and I'm having a hard time disagreeing with Rebekah regarding the cover pic.
And I also am glad I was not drinking anything when I read that.

Your description was the reason I *didn't* go home and read this last night - if it's that good, I'm going to stay up until I finish it, and I really didn't have the energy to stay up until two. But as soon as I have enough time to sit down with it... (Yeah, I'm no good at delaying gratification.)

Okay, now I can join in the squeeing. That was a fabulous book!

As soon as you mentioned all three of those authors--Tamora Pierce, Shannon Hale, and Robin McKinley--you got me interested. I love those authors! So I'm going to check out Graceling when it comes out. Thanks for letting us know about it.
