Last night, I had a conversation rather like this one with a patron who demanded a computer even though they were all in use.
I swear, I said the words, "I'm sorry, they're all being used" at least 57 times.
BEAST.
[Later: My Monday night partner-in-crime also felt the need to write about it! And I just noticed that she called me a narc in her blogroll! HEY!!]
*sigh* I hate those conversations. And they're always with the people who want to bypass the 20 person waiting list "because there are empty computers." Yes, they are empty because they're reserved for someone else. Now get your ass in line like everyone else.

I think you handled that quite well, Leila. I think patrons like that are why I'm on vacation right now! - my PTL (patron tolerance level) was getting pretty low. We get patrons like that all the time. I was getting especially fed up with kids and parents who were quibbling with me over the rules of our summer reading program-JUST READ THE STINKING BOOKS!-THAT'S THE POINT OF THE WHOLE THING!But I'm much better now (sigh).
