I’m...<p>The excitement I felt on reading your post drained away when I read the excerpt in the NPR article. I’m not a good book reviewer, so I can’t entirely put my finger on what I didn’t like about the style, but something about it grated on me: a high telling-to-showing ratio, and a tone of pop vulgarity in the narrative voice, to name a couple of things. An egregious factual error didn’t help, either. </p>
<p>I will therefore be very interested to read your review. Is the story compelling enough to make me forget or ignore the style?</p>
