...have been announced, and the YA shortlist DOESN'T include Gentlemen.
Sigh.
WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH EVERYONE??
Anyway, it does include Shadowed Summer (which I loved) and The Morgue and Me(which I liked, and Peter Abrahams and Caroline B. Cooney (I am surprised by neither) and a book that I've never heard of (but basing my opinion solely on the title and cover art, looks interesting).
I added a couple of these to my book order. I already had a couple of them. I just looked at your review of Gentlemen and wanted to add it to my next book order too. But, I already have it. I don't remember getting it. That sometimes happens when my paraprofessional processes the new orders so fast that I don't get a chance to see them before they are set out for the kids. I will have to look in my Media Center. Too many good books! Too little time to read!

Thanks for posting this! I haven't read Gentlemen yet, but look forward to it.

Actually, now that you mention it, I am kinda shocked that GENTLEMEN isn't on this list. I don't really know the criteria they work from, but it's got that same dark, hopeless tone about it that Poe was all for. Hmm... for shame.

Oh, and Petronella has been languishing on my shelves BARELY circing for probably 6 months now. She's been looking at me accusingly, daring me to read her, as she's quite sure I'd fall in love. But I resist.
(ok, now that I've anthropomorphized a book...)
By chance have you gotten your hands on THE PRINCE OF MIST by Carlos Ruiz Zafon? Methinks you might like it. It's super creepy, though.
