- In Wisconsin, a parent is appealing the decision made to keep Sonya Sones' One of Those Hideous Books Where the Mother Dies on the shelves at Theisen Middle School. Since making her original complaint, the same parent has challenged six other books in the school library.
- In Tennessee, a parent is challenging the use of a biology textbook because it refers to creationism as "the biblical myth that the universe was created by the Judeo-Christian God in 7 days."
