Because you know what? Those kids deserve a lit festival. Totally.
I am happy to kick dirt in the face of the dork who disinvited an author, but I HATE that the whole thing was canceled. I hate it. There's little enough that is positive for YA lit -- so many people think it's all Gossip Girls and vampire seks (not that those things aren't WAY COOL, but come on - that's not everything) -- that when good writers don't get a chance to talk about their work, it galls me.
And yet: it certainly isn't the author's fault. Standing together against censorship is important. And yes, I am preaching to the choir. Look, it's early, all right?
