It also depends on how you define "write another Harry Potter" - I would have thought writing something else in the same world would be considered writing another Harry Potter, but apparently Naomi Alderman disagrees, since her argument was something along the lines of "it's not ok to write another book with the Harry Potter characters, but feel free to write another book set in the same world."

While part of me would like to read more in the same world, I think JKR should leave that to the fanfic writers (pretending she doesn't know they exist, for legal reasons) and move on to something new. Alderman was right on several points: 1) Stagnation is not good for an author and 2) "part of the joy of a great fiction is being able to do some of the invention yourself."
