We live in a strange universe in which the the Cullen family appears on this list, but the Armitage family, the Derkholm clan and the Elliott family... don't.

No, no.
Don't worry.
I'll be fine.
Those aren't tears you see.
My eyes are just... watering because of the... something.
Yeah, no Chants, either. I bet her favorite YA author is John Grisham.

No to be overly catty, but it sounds like someone needs to read a wider selection of literature. Especially since two families, which she admits, are not supernatural at all, just involved in supernatural stories: the Murrys and the Pevensies. Which is interesting since those are the only series' that are older.

I almost mentioned the Chants, too, but then it would have just turned into a post in which I just listed every family in a Diana Wynne Jones book.
Not that that wouldn't be an awesome list...

Yeah, I'm loving that she has the Murrays -- I specifically looked FOR the Murrays... but, no Chants? Oh, come ON!

The list isn't meant to be comprehensive to all of literature--just my faves off the top of my head. I'd expect everyone to have different faves (and I wish other people would take a cue from you and post them so I can add the books I haven't heard of to my TBR pile!)
The Cullens got on the list largely because one of my pet theories is that the whole "getting to join a beautiful and tight knit supernatural family" aspect of the books actually plays a substantial role in the appeal to many of the books' readers, even though most people tend to talk about the romance when they talk about wish fulfillment and the appeal of the series. I knew it wouldn't be a popular choice (and that it would provoke some "WHY, WHY?!" responses), but figured it might be good food for thought.
Also, since we were using the term "supernatural" (instead of "fantasy"), I stuck with books which take place at least partially in a real world setting, rather than also including some great high fantasy families (in which case, my list would have been dominated by people from Tamora Pierce's books).

'Tis the nature of such lists, of course -- my favorite thing about them is always the conversation/book recommendations that they inspire!
And even though it's a literary list, I'd like to add the Winchesters to it as well...

I may do a blog entry with my tie-in list of supernatural TV families, because I dearly wanted to put the Winchesters on that list as well.

Ooh, but it had the Ryves brothers on it! (I was reading The Demon's Covenant today and my friends got really sick of my neverending cries of, "Oh my God! Marry me, both of you!")
