...at the Horn Book, two amazing things come up, and they're amazing for different reasons:
1. Franny Billingsley says that she isn't the one who's funny or witty, that it all comes from the characters. I just can't wrap my mind around the idea that the person who created the voices she's created thinks that there's any possibility that she isn't hilarious.
2. Secondly, she gets asked this question: "Tell us, if Eldric and Gen* were to arm-wrestle, who would win?"
If you haven't read Chime, get on that, please.

"If Eldric and Gen were to arm-wrestle." So funny! Must read this interview.

Fantastic interview--I love how (natural? convincing? something?) she is about her love for McKinley and MWT in there, so clear that she really did read and love those books. Heart. (And yes, anyone who hasn't read Chime yet should get ON it.)

Right? I loved that because she sounds like us when we get going about our favorites. And I'm so glad that you agree about Chime!

The people at the local children's bookstore got to be, like "NO it hasn't come in yet" starting at the end of March.
