This is becoming a pet peeve: characters who describe one or both their parents as "the most beautiful/handsome" people EVER. Really? I've never met a kid, let alone a teenager, who thought their own parents were anything but weird, at best, and completely embarrassing/clueless/shitty, at worst. Sure, friends parents can be "cool", or occasionally "hot" (though more rare, and usually met with derision). This weird worshipful description is striking me as Mary Sue-ifying the main characters' parents - if that makes sense.

Well, considering that the author is both a true crime author and the father of twin girls, the Mary Sue suspicion might not be that far off...

Chrissy

Well. Isn't that interesting.

"Over time, she learned that her mother was also smart and accomplished - and that a person's true character is more important than how she or he looks..."

I didn't completely hate the book, but definitely did not like how the paranormal activity was introduced.
