They aren't going for scare tactics or controversy or titillation AT ALL, noSIRREE!
From WLOX:
A book loaded with foul language and sexually explicit material has been pulled from the library shelves at Picayune Junior High School.
The book in question is, unsurprisingly, a Gossip Girl book. Given that it's also making headlines in Florida, I forsee more freaking out about the series in the near future.
C'mon, guys! Get with the program: Being all horrified by Gossip Girl, is, like, SOOOO Spring 2009.
Whatever will happen to the education of these poor junior high students if they cannot access such fine works of literature as the Gossip Girl series in their school libraries? I, for one, am appalled?

@Katie: I saw that somewhere online, and embarrassingly, my first thought was: Oh. I want to read that. My more reasonable second thought was: WHAT ON EARTH HAS HAPPENED TO MY BRAIN??
