I bought myself this book for Christmas and just caught up with you. I thought AWOL too, or something along those lines. But the seashells? I got nothing.

So far Polly kind of breaks my heart (um, especially the part where her name is really Mary?) but I'm not totally sold on Sarah yet. We'll see. I'm curious about her brother...and about Mrs. Hill's mysterious goings-on.

Shall I spoil it a little and say that you do find out about James but not until nearly the end of the book (well, the beginning of the last section) and that's one of the things I ended up really disliking about the book?
